Troy Town Summer Dart League
Rules of play amended at AGM 2025
1. The committee to consist of the following:
Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Fixture secretary and ALL team captains.
Any player may voice their opinion at the AGM, but only committee members may vote on subjects discussed.
Any dispute brought to the committee will be settled by majority vote of the committee.
If the dispute involves two or more teams, then those team Captains will have no involvement in the decisions reached.
If the voting is a draw, then one of the following (Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Fixture secretary (provided not part of the dispute)), will have an extra vote.
Only proposals submitted BEFORE the AGM will be discussed at the AGM.
Proxy vote nominated by a committee member is allowed if the committee member is not able to attend.
The committee decision will be final.
2. Registration monies are to be paid by the second game in the first half.
3. Monetary payouts will be paid as agreed at the AGM. Competition payouts will be on a 60/40% basis.
4. A team shall consist of FOUR players, which can be any combination of male or female players.
5. A. A match shall consist of Four singles, two doubles and one leg of 701. All legs count win or lose in the doubles and singles. B. One point for each singles leg win for both players. C. One point for each doubles leg win for both players. D. One point for each 701 win. E. The team with the most points from all 7 league games at the end of the season will count for the winning team.
6. A. Singles matches to be played the best of 5 legs- 501 up, with a flying start and a double finish. B. Doubles matches to be played the best of 3 legs- 501 up, with a flying start and a double finish. C. All 701 matches to be played the best of 1 leg- 701 up with a flying start and a double finish. D. 1001 Competition as Rule 21 if played on a League night.
7. Single matches will be drawn out and played in the order of the draw. Up to four reserves can play in the doubles and 701 and another draw to take place for the doubles and 701.
8. Draw to be made as close to 8pm as possible, play shall start straight after. If a player is not available when due to play, the game shall be played as agreed by both captains, together with the 701, doubles and singles in which that player is drawn. The time by which that game shall be played shall be at the discretion of the opposing captain, having due regard for the spirit of the game and goodwill of all players of the game.
9. Results of all matches shall be properly filled in on Result Sheet (W or L) will not be accepted.it should be 3-2 etc. a Ton or Ton+ is to be marked with an Asterix* unless it is a high out shot (100 +) or a 180 then it should be marked as i.e. 116 out or 180- but counted as a Ton in the tons area. The sheet is to be signed by both captains. Captains to send a photo to the Troy Town Darts League Facebook page by the Sunday night following the league match. No excuses will be accepted for late results. Late results will incur a TWO-point deduction starting at the singles.
10. In case of any difficulty arising, which cannot be settled prior to the match, the match shall be played and the League Fixtures Secretary consulted, who will then consult the committee on the matter and their decision will be final.
11. The throw shall be from the oche or from a distinctly marked line of 7’9 ¼ “from the dartboard to the oche. The thrower shall throw from behind and not on the oche or line i.e. no foot on the oche. The height of the dartboard is to be 5’8” from the floor to the centre of the bullseye. The board shall be well illuminated (no shadows). The ’20’ and ‘3’ shall be dark coloured.
12. A. The score shall be on the scoreboard within the view of the following lines/player and shall be shown as follows

B. The player may ask the chalker at any time for the score left. No indication of the required ‘double’ shall be given i.e. 32 not double 16, nor shall the double be marked on the scoreboard.
C. The chalker and player must agree as to the amount scored before the darts are retrieved from the dartboard. A protest about the score attained or called after the retrieval of the darts may not be upheld. The chalkers decision is final.
D. All requests by a player to check scores recorded or subtractions made, must be made before that players’ next throw.
E. Any dart thrown by a player after scoring the required double shall not be counted as the respective leg, set or match is concluded by the dart scoring the required double.
F. The chalker shall be deemed the match official whose decision will be final.
13. During match play, only the player at the oche shall direct enquiries to the chalker.
14. A player at the oche is entitled to consult with the chalker an the amount scored or required at any time during a throw, however, the played shall not be advised on how to finish by the chalker.
15. Any protest must be lodged with the chalker at the time of any alleged violation and a judgement given on the spot before the leg, set or match is allowed to continue.
16. all players shall be properly registered with the league. Once the league has started, any players signed on will pay a fee of £1.00 which will go to league funds. Players may be signed on at any time throughout the league and competitions.
17. Once a player has played three or more games in a league for a pub/club that person is no longer eligible for transfer to another pub/club unless it is agreed by the pub/clubs involved and the committee has agreed to the transfer and a £5.00 transfer fee is paid into league funds. Prior to playing three games, they may with consent of both pubs/clubs and a further payment of £1.00 to league funds be transferred to another pub/club.
18. The committee reserves the right to refuse the registration of any player.
19. A team not turning up to two consecutive matches shall forfeit all the points in that half of the season. The defaulting team shall be liable for any expense incurred by the applicable team they were to play. Such an amount will be decided by the committee.
20. Any match cancelled must be played within 4 weeks of the cancellation unless the 1001 is played on a league night, then the 1001 must be played by the end of the first half ( a draw for the next half must be done) except at the end of the league season when the match must be played within one week or before the competitions start. Two dates will be offered by the opposing team. The onus is on the team that cancelled in the first place to accept one of the dates offered. The team offering dates must do so within one week of the cancellation. The fixtures secretary is to be informed of all cancellations and the rearranged dates. If the teams cannot agree a dart, the fixtures secretary is to be informed, and the committee will then decide whose decision will be binding.
21. A. Teams cancelling must give 48 hours’ notice. If a team does not give this notice, then the game must be played with however many players they have, or all points will be awarded to the other team. Team players should be made aware of this notice in case they cannot make the Friday Night game. Extenuating circumstances will be taken into consideration.
B. A team should sign enough players so that hopefully games do not have to be cancelled. The team captain should ensure that all team members have contact numbers.
C. Any team captain that forgets to inform their pub/club of the cancellation and if a cost of food is incurred, that team will be responsible for covering the cost if an expense has resulted.
22. Competitions to be played at a venue that has enough boards so that the competition can be finished (including the final) on the night.
23. Perpetual trophies are to be kept at the pub/club for which the team/player is playing for. If a pub/club closes for any reason the trophies are to be put in the new venue that the team/player has moved to or given to the fixture’s secretary.
24. MIXED TEAM DOUBLES COMPETITION
This competition will be played on a night and venue agreed at AGM. All players names will be put into the hat and a draw for doubles partners and for prelims, Quarter and semi-finals. Each game will consist of 3 legs of 501 up, with a flying start and double finish. The winners and runners up to receive a monetary payment or as agreed at AGM. Entry fee is £1.00 per player. Players to register by 8pm. If played, the competition must be completed on the night.
25. MINI MACKIE CUP
Teams to consist of 5 players. The match will consist of five single games. Matches to be played the best of three legs of 501 up, with a flying start and a double finish. A draw for the order of play. Winning teams to inform the fixtures secretary. Matches to be played at a venue as agreed at the AGM. Teams to register by 8pm. Entry fee of £1.00 per player. A perpetual trophy will be given on finals Night and a
monetary payment to the winning team or as agreed at AGM. The competition must be completed on the night.
26. 1001 COMPETITION
To be played as agreed at the AGM either as a round robin of 2 legs or if on a league night 1 leg with the final as 3 legs or as agreed at the AGM at a venue also agreed at the AGM. Each leg as a flying start with a double finish. A draw to be made for order of play. Entry fee to be £1.00 per player. Teams to register by 8pm. The competition must be completed on the night.
27. DOUBLES COMPETITION
Teams to nominate pairs and may play more than one team in the competition. Played at a venue agreed at the AGM. Matches to be played the best of three legs of 501 up with a DOUBLE START and FINISH. The final to be the best of five legs. Winning teams to inform the fixtures secretary.
Teams to register by 8pm. Entry fee of £1.00 per player. A monetary payment will be made to the winners and runners up or as agreed at the AGM. If played this competition must be completed on the night.
28. TREBLES COMPETITION
Teams may enter more than one team. To be played best of three legs of 501 with a double start and a double finish. A draw to be made for the order of play. A monetary payment will be made to the winners and runners up or as agreed at the AGM. If played this competition must be completed on the night.
29. FINALS NIGHT
Will be a singles competition between all players from the Summer League. Matches to be played the best of three legs of 501 up with a flying start and a double finish. The final will be the best of five legs. Players to register by 8pm. Entry fee of £1.00 per player. A monetary payment will be made to the winners and runners up or as agreed at the AGM. If played this competition must be completed on the night.
30. Other changes may be made at short notice by the committee members or as agreed at AGM. Any complaints or problems which cannot be sorted on league nights should be reported to the committee whose decision will be final.
31. Communication – E-Mail. Weekly results will be sent out by email, and a copy will be posted on the league Facebook page. See also rule 6 for where Teams Results Sheets are to be posted.
32. FOOD PROVIDED FOR TEAMS ON LEAGUE NIGHTS
It is optional for pubs/clubs whether to lay on food for teams.
